About me
Hello and welcome. My name is Roisin, and I'm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a Graduate Certificate in Counselling and an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I currently work as a school counsellor, supporting young people through various emotional and mental health challenges. I currently offer private therapy online and face-to-face on both a short-term and long-term basis for children & young people from ages of 11-16 years old. I also work with adults and walking therapy, which is counselling sessions that take place while walking outdoors usually in a quiet, natural setting.
My work is grounded in the values of Person-Centred Counselling, which means you already have the answers within you. I’m here to help you uncover them. I take a flexible, client-led approach, shaping each session around what you need in the moment. While person-centred values are at the heart of my practice, I also draw on other approaches where helpful. When we work together, you can expect a warm, open, and nonjudgmental space where you’re free to be yourself, as I draw from approaches like person-centred therapy, mindfulness techniques and solution-based therapy. I will tailor everything to what feels right for you, with my goal being to help you gain clarity, develop tools to navigate challenges and feel more confident at the end of the sessions.

Specialisations:
I specialise in providing empathic support to individuals navigating current and past trauma, focusing on support around Anxiety & Stress, Low Mood & Depression, Self-Esteem & Identity, Young People & School-Based Support and Life Transitions, Relationships, and marriage breakdowns, loss and bereavement, eating disorders, conflicts of trauma and general stress management.
Professional Background:
I draw from my academic foundation from my Graduate Certificate in Counselling and MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Keele University). I bring three years and a half years of dedicated academic training to my counselling practice, supported by hands-on experience in a range of settings. I've had the privilege of working with organisations such as (Healthbox), (Kaleidoscopeplusgroup), and (Place2be). These diverse environments have helped me develop an empathetic approach to therapy. I believe therapy is about building a genuine connection where you feel safe, understood, and supported.
Starting Your Journey:
Finding the right therapist is an important step, and taking your time with it is completely okay. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation session, a chance for you to get a feel for how I work, ask any questions you may have, and share a bit about what’s bringing you to therapy. This first conversation is relaxed and pressure-free. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is built on mutual trust, openness, and a sense of safety, If we decide to move forward, we’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you. My approach is about working together to explore what’s going on in your life, uncover patterns, and find practical ways to move forward.
Ethics:
As a committed British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) member, I follow their ethical framework to ensure safe, respectful, and professional therapeutic practice. I engage in regular supervision to support the quality of my work and my ongoing development as a therapist. Your privacy is of utmost importance to me. I fully adhere to GDPR and strict confidentiality guidelines, so you can feel safe and supported throughout our work together.
