What I can help with
I come from a background of working as a school counsellor supporting children and young people within school settings. I understand that growing up can bring many pressures from friendship struggles and exam stress to family breakdowns and low self-esteem. I aim to offer a space where young people feel heard, accepted, and empowered to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.
Child counselling can support children in addressing a variety of challenges, including:
Behavioural concerns, such as defiance, aggression, or impulsivity
Emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, or experiences of trauma
Social and communication challenges, such as shyness, difficulty forming friendships, social withdrawal, or autism spectrum conditions
Learning and academic struggles, including problems with attention, focus, or understanding school material
Experiences of abuse or neglect
Adjustments related to divorce or family separation
Grief and loss
My Approach
I work in a warm, non-judgmental, and person-centred way, meaning each young person is met with empathy and respect, wherever they are in their journey. I tailor sessions to their needs, using creative tools when appropriate (such as drawing, cards, or story work, painting, sand tray therapy) to help them express themselves.
A Safe and Confidential Space
Confidentiality is key to building trust with young people. While I work sensitively within safeguarding frameworks, I always aim to involve the child or young person in decisions about what is shared and when. I am fully DBS-checked and trained in child safeguarding procedures.
